Growing plants using hydroponic systems is a pleasure because you get to set up a perfect environment in your home and watch your crops flourish. Indeed, once you set up a Supercloset Hydroponics system, there’s not much else to do except watch your yields grow. It’s definitely not farming like your grandfather used to do.
The ease of running SuperCloset Hydroponic systems makes sense when you consider what ‘hydroponics’ actually means. Everyone knows that the ‘hydro-’ part means water, but most don’t know that ‘ponic’ is Greek for ‘to labor or toil.’ Put that together, and it means the water does the work!

So what exactly is it?
Well, it’s not one thing, but a range of self-contained growing systems that suit many different growing needs. It’s like a fridge that contains the perfect environment for any plant to grow. They range from massive, the size of a large cabinet to small and discrete. However, there are some features that all systems share.
- KIND K3 XL600 Series 2 LED Grow Lights: These LED lights provide the best possible compromise between exceptional brightness and low heat. The spectrum of light they output has been expertly calibrated to provide the best growth rate for plants.
- WIFI GrowCam: This add-on is compatible with all the cabinets mentioned in this overview. When the GrowCam is active, you can check in with your plants at any time on your phone, watching their progress like any anxious parent.
- Digital Thermometer / Hygrometer: This device measures the temperature and humidity both inside your unit and in the room that surrounds it. If the plants that you’re growing benefit from changes in temperature, a timer can make that change happen automatically.
- SuperPonics Hydroponics System or Soil: All of SuperCloset’s cabinets are compatible with both standard soil and the SuperPonics Hydroponics system. The SuperPonics system always has two separate Hydroponics systems running, which means that if one goes offline, the other will ensure your plants won’t dry out.
- Net Trellis: The net trellis is a system of ropes and tie-downs that ensure your plants are in the ideal position for maximum growth. It can increase yields by up to 30 per cent.
- Locking Doors: All the boxes and cabinets that the company sells are not only discrete but secure. There’s a lock on the door, so you know that no one is going to be making away with your product.
With those basics out of the way, take a look at the many sizes and arrangements available from SuperCloset.
SuperTrinity & Trinity Grow Closet
The SuperTrinity and Trinity are closet-sized growing environments in which each component is absolutely top of the line. Both have three different growing chambers, which means you can have three crops growing at once. Even better, you can have three crops at different stages of the growing process, which ensures a constant flow of flowering products.
The growing chambers have a whole bunch of useful features. For one, there’s an internal fan that ensures the perfect amount of circulation for your plant, as well as anti-mould panels that are easy to take out and clean. The lights are the KIND K3s mentioned above, and there’s also a digital hygrometer that keeps track of your plants while you aren’t watching. Oh, and all these high tech features are controllable from the SuperClosets smart mobile app.
The SuperTrinity, with dimensions of 92” wide, 24” deep, and 78” high, is slightly larger than the Trinity system, which is 72” wide, 24” deep, and 72” high. These are the largest cabinets that SuperClosets Hydroponics Systems offers, and they’ll provide the highest yields. If you want to go bigger, your only choice is to move up to one of SuperClosets’ rooms.
SuperNova Smart Grow Closet & SuperNova Flower Smart Grow Closet
The SuperNova Grow Closets boasts two separate chambers, one for growing and one for cloning a new crop. The cloning chamber has two incandescent light bulbs to give your seedlings a lower intensity of light than the growing plants, which provides an ideal environment for that stage of their life cycle. There’s an adjustable shelf to move down as the seedlings grow their roots and transform into plants, ready to be moved up to the growing chamber.
The SuperNova Flower Smart system only has a growing chamber, which is great if you already have a seeding system, because the lack of a cloning chamber gives your plants more space to grow. Both growing chambers have air filters, a circulation fan, and a digital hygrometer.
Both the SuperNova Smart Grow Closet and the SuperNova Flower Smart Grow Closet are 46″ wide, 24″ deep, and 78″ tall.
SuperFlower Smart Grow Closet & Delux Smart Grow Closet & SuperStar Smart Grow Box
These three systems have similar features, but they come wrapped in different packages.
The company designed the SuperStar Smart Grow Box to have a small base—24” wide by 24” deep—combined with a tall height—60” to be precise. This profile makes it easy to find a place to put the environment, but the height allows for great yield despite the compactness. The Superstar has two chambers, one for cloning and one for growing/flowering.
The SuperFlower Smart Grow Closet is an ideal choice for growers who are going for tall plants. There’s no cloning chamber in the SuperFlower, but that means that all the space goes toward the growing chamber. And it’s a big one: the dimensions are 36” wide, 24” deep, and (a massive) 72” tall. From roots to flowers, there’s a lot of space in this cabinet for any plant to stretch.
Finally, the Deluxe Smart Grow Closet combines the SuperCloset’s dual-chamber design with the SuperFlower’s towering height. Its dimensions are the same as the latter, 36” wide, 24” deep, and 72” tall, but the cloning chamber takes up the bottom portion. There’s not much else you could ask for in a compromise, with the great yield capacity and the ability to keep a perpetual harvest going.
SuperBox LED Smart Grow Box
The SuperBox LED Smart Grow Box is the smallest system on offer from SuperCloset. But don’t let its size fool you, it's packed with features. It has air filtration and circulation capabilities, great KIND K3 LED lights, and all the smartphone connectivity you need. This model doesn’t, however, have a cloning chamber, just the growing area.
This all fits into an 8” wide, 24” deep, and 30” high unit, which means you won’t have much trouble finding a place to put one of these in your home.
Frequently Asked Questions
These are some complicated devices, so it would be surprising if you didn’t have a few questions.
When do I need to change the water?
When using the Superponic system, the water should be replaced every one to two weeks. Later in the growing process, you’ll need to change the water more often because larger, more mature plants will drink more water.
Do I need to add nutrients to the water?
Plants need more than water to grow, so if you’re using a Superponic system, it’s essential to add the nutrients your plants would usually get from the soil around them. The company line of Lotus Hydroponic Nutrients has everything your plants need to thrive. The nutrient blend is water-soluble and designed for medicinal-grade plants.
Make sure to add nutrients whenever you change the water.
Is there any difference between plants grown outdoors and plants grown in SuperCloset systems?
A basic level of the plants themselves, there’s no difference between plants grown outdoors and those grown in a hydroponic system. However, there will be a lot more consistency in growth rate and yield, because the conditions in this system are themselves more consistent. There’s no dry days or cold nights to interfere with growing.
Say I’m growing ‘fragrant’ plants. Will my home smell?
The air filtration system that SuperCloset has developed doesn’t only ensure you get great growing results, but also that the smell of your plants stays contained in your cabinets. The carbon filters catch all the odour so that only fresh air leaves. You won’t notice any difference in the way your home smells.
How much electricity does SuperCloset use?
Of course, the exact amount of energy that a SuperCloset will draw depends on the size of the unit. For example, a SuperNova Smart Grow Closet uses more energy than a SuperBox LED Smart Grow Box. That said, all of SuperCloset is engineered to be efficient, from the LED lights to the temperature control systems.
These cabinets plug into standard 110w outlets and use between 2 and 10 amps, which limits the extra charge on your electricity bill.
Should I go for the optional additions?
In an ideal world, everyone would get everything they possibly could for their SuperCloset systems, but the additions you really need to get depends on how you intend to use your system. People growing plants for their business will likely need the greater peace of mind provided by the BlueLab Guardian Monitor and the Reverse Osmosis Water Filter.
